Sunday at the Leeds Night Owls

Not been to the Leeds Night Owls in a while but decided to go down last Sunday and play a game of Infinity. The plan was to do another battler report but my camera skills leave something to be desired so most photos were not usable. Anyhow I managed to get a few good snaps and also got a few pics of some other games when we took a break for lunch. I played 300pt on the Beacons field mission from ITS. Probably for the best this was not a battle report as my Nomads had somewhat of a convincing win. No fault of my own mind you I had to roll 7 amour saves all game and passed 6 and was getting crits left right and center, also I got best table side with two rooftops overlooking the center line objective so had HMG on one roof and an Intruder with multi sniper and msvLv2 + xVisor smashing heads through all the smoke Ariadna had. I think we need a re match in a few weeks when I can next get down for a rematch of skill not dice rolls . . . . . .

The forces we started with. . . . .so . . .many . . .Ariadna.
This was half the Ari side, look at that order pool it makes me sick! 9 models just in this pic and two also hiding in the building :(
I went for a pretty conservative set up covering all flanks and back routs as I have only played Ari one time so had no idea what to expect.
Who goes there!?
Turn one losses for Ariadna . . . and I mean first player turn. Every model here was taken out in ARO ( sorry Colin! ) all by the Intruder with sniper, accept the spetsnaz he got critted in the face by a Wildcat with Spitfire while shooting at the Intruder, who ended up passing both saves he was made to take. To be fair we both rolled something rotten I had to beat constant rolls of 2 and 3 :(
"One bargain buckets, and an extra diet futuristic space Coke please"
About 3mm out of taking a mine to the torso. . .  I should be ready for that all things considering :)
Standing guard and good thing as Russian Special Forces are lurking about.
Wooden spoon award goes to these guys. That Cateran lost the sniper battle and that Alguacile was only painted the day before and never been used. Should teach me for taking a hacker against a force who doesn't know what a computer is.
That scout worked his way forward and took out my hacker, and this Intruder did some serious gunishment taking out pretty much half the force in turn one. I will definitely be putting him in my list first when I have my next game.

A few of the other games being played at the club

I rate how much space this game takes up.

I've not played 40k in a while but Dreadnoughts now have a serious arsenal stuck to them.
My favorite load out for a Dreadnaught.

"hmmmmm 5xD6 extra attacks on the charge does not seem right mate"

This War boss needs no backup.

Those Forge World models on the left were awesome, not seen them up close before
This game requires you to have a "camp" as a base. Not sure this is the kind of camp I would be supporting, they seem mean.
Seriously outnumbered, But who cares when you're an Ogre right?
Someone came close to loosing a HQ by the looks of it.

Leeds Colectorabila

I don't know how but this event nearly slipped by without me even hearing about it but someone mentioned they were selling stuff on the day so I went and toddled along to check it out. Was a small event but defiantly worth checking out for a couple of quid. I did that thing again where I go promising myself I wont spend any money knowing full well its a crock of shit but I did manage to spend less than a tenner. Considerably better than the Game fair where I somehow dropped £50 on Dream cast games oops. Anyway I managed to get a few god shots of some of the wares and event.

Star wars is not really my thing I don't get all the hype ( queue gasp from every nerd on the planet ) but there was lots going around and I can respect that.

This guy was selling these awesome prints from old games, I had my eye on an old skool Final Fantasy 1 print but it didn't sit in the frame properly and a tiny bit was cut of the bottom of the writing and it really bugged me so I had to go without :( you can just about make out an old legend of Zelda print on the right.

As I mentioned it was a small event this was about 2/3 of the entire space. You could walk around in about 40 minutes to check everything out. This guy on the left was pretty jokes. He was trying to sell plushies from that box on the left like he was selling fruit on the market " 3 pounds for small 5 pounds for large, camon only one box left!"

I want these when I get a house, accept the Bowie one it creeps me out a little just thinking of him in that film with his tight tight trousers on *shudders*

These girls usually attend the games fairs, and they have some pretty cool stuff to peddle I might add, they made all the pillows.

Not that I minded but this was a random stall that sold completely random bits of Lego. I ended up buying loads of Lego Technic tires to turn into infinity scenery.

These things seem to be pretty popular at the moment.

Saw this kid a bunch of times bumping into people/things, Never seen someone so happy to have a helmet on.

Now i'm not MLG but I am pretty sure that guy would do better if he used more than one hand.

I remember playing these games the first time around when I was that small.

Lots of PS1 games for sale.
I mean Loads of PS1 games seriously.

Kaylee flogging a bunch of Transformers.

Standard Vader and some of his cronies you see at these types of events. I wonder who decided they are going to be Vader that week, do they take it in turns or do they have some sort of short straw system. I do admit this suit was better than any others I had seen in the past as it had the voice box inside so he looked and sounded the part when he spoke. These guys must have got bored at some point as later on in the day they were walking up and down the Leeds High street collecting for charity #sithlads

Was a guy who had a business making consoles look boss.

Random clocks

And this was the stuff I bough from the Lego stall that will soon have a home on my gaming board. more to come on that one later.

Pan O line troops, more than just order monkeys.

Here are a few pics of some of my Line troops. I have most painted now but still a short way to go. I had a break from Pan Oceania recently and thought I would try and finally get my Nomads done as I can somehow manage to smash a model out in a few hours. Anyway below are a few pics and thoughts on what I have got painted so far.

The Cru so far
As with most lists we all have a few order monkeys or cheer leaders, and as such I have two basic line troops with basic combi rifles. Unlike my nomad lists where I have a lot of basic guys then two or three heavy hitters my Pan O lists usually have a lot of specialist troops as they have so much tec to play with.

Not much to say about these guys, pretty basic stat line but do boast a +1 to BS over most other line troops profiles. They do suffer slightly with a -1 wip, to much relying on pure firepower and tec can have its down sides, but having units like cutters back you up will probably do that to you so fair enough.

Auxilia, personally I love these guys and are an auto include for me in every game. they do suffer a slightly lesser BS but come with a free aux with a massive flame thrower to boot. At only 4pts more than a Fusilier these guys rock And for an extra 2pts can also be a FO getting you those crucial objective grabbers you need and at no SWC it's a bargain. These guys can be left back as bodyguards for your snipers, hackers and Lieutenant giving a hard counter to those pesky units that drop behind and cause havoc. Or can be left half way up the table just out of sight of an objective making them rather hard to catch and make people seriously change tactics when they try to advance.

Another line troop, nothing special but getting a Grenade launcher on the board for 14pts cant be bad am I right? perfect if you have a few orders to waste and someone is hiding in a pain in the ass position.

Ahhh I love this little guy, the order sergeant. I do own the box set of three but don't play the relevant secretarial so can only take one. Not mush to rave about on the stat line but they do have the religious special rule. Being able to stand in the face of death and not give a flying monkeys is a good thing in a game all about the guns . . . . well most of the time, not so much when you need your unit alive then he decideds to be filled with the glory of god and just stands on the spot like a mug waiting to get shot at again. Anyway the beauty in these guys is they have an immense selection of war gear. They can be left bog standard at 13pts or can be upgraded to have FO, TO camo and infiltration! weapon upgrades include spitfires and sniper rifles. all in all a diverse unit well worth taking.

And lastly the trauma doc, she comes in a box with an engineer who personally I think is a bonk model, looks like some futuristic Quasimodo. Any how I like this model It does have a unique pose but I haven't decided if shes screaming out for help and more medical tools or is begging for mercy on the floor as it seems like someone should be towering over her waiting to deliver the final blow . . . Ariadna 112 emergency service doctor perhaps? Pretty basic stat line the same as Fusilier but for 4pts extra can heal and grab objectives so not bad all in all. Plus she has somehow managed to get her hands, or should I says hand on a goa'uld hand device from Stargate so that's a bonus in my eyes.

Below are a few extra pics of my models I have painted so far enjoy :)

Not a line troop I know but I painted this ORC trooper after i made my last post about HI in Pan O so suuuush.
